Hoher Besuch auf der Baustelle

Lob von Barroso

So recht wollte bei Kultursenatorin Barbara Kisseler keine Freude aufkommen beim Besuch von EU-Kommissionspräsident José Manuel Barroso in der Elbphilharmonie. Zu viele Sorgen bereiten die Probleme – doch Barroso nahm es gelassen und war begeistert von Hamburgs neuem Wahrzeichen: „I’m extremely impressed by this project. I know it will be the biggest musical center in Central Europe.” Der Ruf der Elbphilharmonie und der HafenCity ist inzwischen bis nach Brüssel vorgedrungen. Barroso tröstete Kisseler – ähnliche Erfahrungen mit großen öffentlichen Bauprojekten hat er schon öfter gesehen: „Many places in Europe I saw this kind of projects developing. Probably not so expensive as this one, to be honest. But I’ve seen the huge contribution they have made for the renomée of the cities, for the competitiveness for the cities and for the vitalization of the cities. I´m sure that those problems are going to be solved and at the end it will be very valued for Hamburg – and I hope to come for the opening.“

Den Wunsch wird ihm die Kultursenatorin sicher gerne erfüllen, würde es doch bedeuten, dass, wenn er denn in seiner Funktion als EU-Präsident käme, der Bau bis 2014 fertiggestellt werden müsste.
